Us at the Education Centre

A group out of the Blog Kids went to the Education Centre on Friday the 20th of November. We went there to present our blog. Some of us were nervous about presenting in front of about 40 teachers. We really enjoyed eating the cupcakes because they were delicious. The presention was really fun and we all did a great job. Miss Lewis is very proud of us the Blog kids.

How to play the drum

This week we are going to show you a video of students learning how to play the drums. We hope you enjoy it!

Time to put on the skin

The materials needed are goat skin, small string and long string. The wet goat skin is a little bit smelly. There are 24 holes in the goat skin. First you thread the string through the goat skin. Secondly you tighten the skin so its not all floppy so the top of the skin is flat. If you touch the wet skin it can make it bumpy. Your drum will be ready the next day.

Designing the drum.

First they drew a design on the drum, then they paint it. The students think it was really fun. It takes one day for the paint to dry because they used water paints. The name of the drum making teacher is Brook.
